AS400 Programmer

Vendor Screening Criteria

The vendor is required to filter candidates based on the following criteria:

  1. The staff must be willing to work full-time on-site (WFO).
  2. The staff must be willing to work on-site at client offices located in Gandaria and Kuningan.
  3. The staff must be willing to work overtime when required to meet project targets, including on both weekdays and weekends.
  4. The staff must have a good command of English, both verbally and in writing, including the ability to read and understand English documents.
  5. The staff must be willing to work under a contract/outsourced employment arrangement.
  6. The staff must be willing to undergo periodic performance evaluations.
  7. The staff must be able to work effectively in a team, demonstrate clear and good communication skills, and have a proactive attitude rather than being passive or overly reserved.

Educational Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree (S1) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Good English communication skills, both spoken and written, are required to communicate with local, regional, and head office teams.

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience as an AS400 Programmer for the mid-level position.
  • More than 5 years of experience for the senior-level position.
  • Experience in system integration or system enhancement projects is a plus.
  • Experience in software development projects within the banking industry is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain application programs based on system designs and specifications provided by the System Analyst.
  • Perform coding, debugging, and unit testing to ensure program accuracy and stability.
  • Collaborate with System Analysts, Business Analysts, and Quality Control teams to clarify requirements and resolve system defects/issues.
  • Ensure that developed programs comply with coding standards, security policies, and system performance requirements.
  • Conduct impact analysis for system changes.
  • Support system integration activities, System Integration Testing (SIT), and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including program specifications and code documentation.
  • Handle and resolve defects and system issues during both the development and post-implementation stages.

Required Skills

  • Strong proficiency in RPG programming language.
  • Strong experience in AS400 (IBM iSeries) development and operations.
  • Good understanding of database concepts, particularly DB2/SQL.
  • Experience in system integration and interface handling.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with API integration, particularly REST and SOAP.

Other Knowledge and Competencies

  • Good understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Strong ability in debugging, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Good understanding of system change impact analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Good and structured technical documentation skills.
